If you could put the midi in this video, it would be an AMAZING help!!!
The quality's to low for me to really see your fingers.
Great playing though!

D F D F Eb Dbm D F
Key changes with chord. Its a trip (French: voyage). Mixolydian fits well, except for the minor chord, dorian is compulsory my friend.

can anyone please tell me the notes for the d flat sus and the f 7 sus?
-
It's in a F major Mixoydian mode right? I'm transcribing it for a class project.

bravo!!!! Congratulations!! I could be in love with you listening such ambiguous and "sexy" chords!!! My mood goes like "swinging" and "switching" from flying to heaven and then to "sweet melagholy"..minor, major, agumented, diminished, half-diminished..so sexy...

Great vibe, I love those ambiguous harmonies. Nice

I loved the trills. Another instant classic.
Wow! Your technique is amazing!
This was one of the first tunes to break away from functional harmony in jazz using unresolved suspended 4th chords. Its interesting that you extend this to include susb9 chords (the phrygian chord). I have experimented using Maj7b6 (F#/D, Gb/F etc.) chords that also produce that unresolved sound.

Thanks Doug. In the interviews with Herbie that I've read and heard, he says this is the best song he has ever written. For me it provides a harmonic universe that is a joy to explore. It all resolves eventually anyway, even if it's just to silence. ;-)

I like the Phrygian chord substitution you are using for F sus chord. Nice work. 5 stars.

Thanks Alvin, this is such a great tune and has been played by so many great people, I just wanted to give it a little different "flavor" and the phrygian mode has always been one of my favorites. My voicing on that chord is Gb Bb C F for those who are interested.
