People are coming around. They cant help it if they dont know its a sport. The pole has been associated with strip clubs for so so so long. When I refer to my fitness routine as being done on a "fitness" pole, I never get that strange eye brow raise. My 13 year old son even talks about using it and no one even questions it bc the word "stripper pole" is a no no here...even tho i worked AS an "entertainer" for 20 years!!! The world champs are doing a great job representing serious athletes!!

@assiracrose SCHWINN. didn't i do that already? most the girls that do pole competitions started out as strippers, like felix. go to magic city in atlanta. those girls do way crazier pole tricks than felix does AND shake their asses like the twerk team.

@kaylawillits Tell me the name of any stripper that can compare to Felix Cane or Jenyne Butterfly. I'm sick of strippers complaining about being compared to 'pole dancers'. While you can be both, they are indeed not the same thing. Not hating on any exotic dancer, we all work hard for the money. But it's not a crime to want to disassociate yourself from stripping if you don't work in a strip club. A true performance artist would not limit themselves to the neighborhood gentlemen's club.

Actual strippers need to stop being so 'upset' over the pole dancing vs. stripping debate. If you take your clothes off in front of men (or women) for money, you are a stripper. If you don't, you're not. Sorry, but it's not a very redeeming profession to have. I've been to strip clubs, and they don't do what Felix does here. They just don't. Half the time they parade half naked around the stage and do some amateur pole moves mixed in. When you get a call from Cirque du Soleil, then we can talk.

@rockthecasba16 Yes, actually strippers DO do what she's doing. Stripping is a good way to make money off of doing what you love, pole dancing, for some at least. Felix is amazing, but there are also many women in clubs that are pretty damn good as well!
