You can spend $5000 in mods and have a 500whp sti. Which would murder an R8. That car probably has a gt35r sti with supporting mods and a tune.

@Al13nwar3z This must be an R8 V8, which only has 420hp and weighs 3600lb. It's only as fast as a stock Mustang 5.0. A modded STI can easily match the power to weight ratio of this car.

Do people on here actually use their heads and think? yeah the scooby won, yeah the the stock R8 costs a hell of alot more than the stock subaru. but how much money do you think this guy poured into this subaru to be able to get this kind of power? Albeit it will still work out cheaper than a stock R8, but not much cheaper. I agree with Rawdawgggg on the hypothetical part and also on the point about chassis design, though i'm not biased towards either of the cars, just stating facts.
