This week John asks the question to all of the listeners out there if they have heard of any articles or research that talk about the effects of alcohol while coping with Multiple Sclerosis or while taking disease modifying drugs. He hasn't come across much material on the subject and is hoping that someone can help fill it in for us.

  • Alcohol affects the same part of the brain that ms does. Ever wonder why people with ms are often accused of being drunk ?

  • Hey there, well I'm not on Rebif I'm on extavia. Same thing as betaseron but, only thing I know to be worried about would be your liver. Interferons can hurt your liver and so does alcohol so not to sure you would want to mix the two if your having liver problems. Well that's all info I have I'm a newbie DX august 19 2010.

  • I'm on Rebif as well and about once a month I will have a wine cooler (1 only) to try to help me relax. I make sure that it's at night before I go to bed because it really makes me dizzy with all of my other meds (pain killers that is) that I take. I have asked my doc if that was OK to do and he said yes as long as I don't drink more than that. But make sure you ask your doctor before you drink anything..
