@wolfkingewan Pretty much fontaine and ryan had a "war" and thats when the disaster happened. afterwards everyone became pretty addicted to ADAM and the side effects of this is why they look crazed and mutated. in bioshock, you play as jack who...well if you want to read what happens i suggest google bioshock wiki. the story was amazing!! bioshock 2 happens about 8 years after bioshock and your character and storyline are completely different. i liked the first one better. (:

@wolfkingewan no...andrew ryan created the city underwater and only invited the "brightest minds" which were artists, surgeons, etc. and decided there would pretty much be no rules and hoped Rapture would be a utopia. there was to be no government or religion whatsoever. It did last peacfully for a few years until a new years of 1959. ryan prohibited contact with surface and a man named fontaine began to smuggle things from the surface. also, tenenbaum discovered ADAM which everyone wanted.

If you play on hard does that turn off vita chambers? Because I played of medium and they were on. Although i did beet the second game with no vita chambers at all.
