Woo hoo, my absolute favourite Touhou song to go along with my favourite Touhou character. This took me so long to learn, and it's a simplified version compared to marasy8's (go check his out, by the way). It's been about a year and a half just for this one song, and as you can see, it still has a lot of mistakes, but this is the closest i've ever gotten to having a perfect run of the song.

If you want to see a totally awesome-er version of this song played on piano, check out marasy8's version here:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZZslQ5zabx4

Once again, the song is called Native Faith, and it's from Touhou 10 : Mountain of Faith.

Oh... and yes, my piano is quite out of tune... haven't had it tuned for many many years, so it's in pretty bad shape, to be honest :(

EDIT: Well, Suwako is no longer my favourite Touhou character, though she is still high up in the ranks. Alice Margatroid ftw.

  • I can't believe you never took any lessons o.O haha. Your hand position, technique all look like a seasoned piano player's. I'm trying to play this as well but I keep missing some of the semiquavers in between (around 1:26)

  • @Holeyhell Oooo, thank you. And I learned something new today! (I didn't know that they're called semiquavers). Those definitely took me the longest to learn. I think I spent about 3 months just to learn from 1:20 to 1:32. Keep trying, even if it takes a while, you'll land it eventually! (Not that mine are even near "perfect", mind you)

  • is there a music sheet? O_oa

  • @aznderella @aznderella Indeed there is! Search youtube for "[Piano] Native faith" by user kkcwkoh. If you read the description for that video, there's a link to the music sheet in PDF format. It's a little bit different from what i'm playing though. I'm not quite good enough, so i simplified it ^^;

  • Pretty awesome for your first video d<_< I plan to learn this soon, it's simpler than it looks... until you look at it again then it's a totally different story xD Simple chord patterns, but complicated change overs if you get what I mean.

    Anyway I can slide down, but not up a piano, when sliding down I just use my pinky, but I don't know the 'safest' way to slide up lol. Also have you ever thought about learning Bad Apple? It's rather easy yo pick up my ear and is in a D# Chord iirc

    -♪-Martin

  • @findlay27 Thank you. Yeah, i have no idea how to slide up properly either, which is why i end up cutting my fingers so often xD. Fear the slide! I might try to learn Bad Apple, but i have a whole list of other songs i'd like to learn first, so it'll have to be queued up.

  • awesome! :D

  • Among all the "Suwako theme piano" video...you're the best :)

  • "It's been about a year and a half just for this one song". ... ... ... I applaud at your effort. This is definitely a great rendition.

  • @Krisper606 Oi! it looks so hard....i found another version that is pretty simple....i think ill stick to that one..:)

  • @Krisper606 I recently found out (yesterday) that when sliding up with the right hand, it's best to use your middle finger, but braced by the two adjacent fingers, think of it as a reverse facepalm,. but instead of thwacking a face, you're thwacking about 30ish keys in a second or two =D

  • @Krisper606 Thank you!
