A quick review on this amazing $25 knife. This thing has so far been the sharpest and my favorite knife I have ever owned. It has a 4 1/2" long blade made of Triflex carbon steel. This type of high carbon steel makes it tougher, sharper, and allows it to maintain an edge longer. The blade is Scandinavian grind and is full tang. The knife includes an olive rubbery- plastic handle and a black plastic sheath.

PROS
- holds a super sharp edge
- very comfortable handle
- .095" thick blade
- very solid feel, one of hardest metals i have encountered
- along with an axe and/or a saw, it is unbeatable

CONS
- sheath isn't the best
- knife collects and holds residue when carving into live wood (a little scrubbing and/or scraping with fingernail will do the trick)

  • Dude you almost removed your kneecap!!!

  • @kelplumber1 Almost only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades ;)

  • @ThePanTian I believe you're confusing the Triflex with the Forest or the Signal. Those 2 models taper towered the tip. The Triflex and the Force are identical except for the blade steel and colors.

  • UPDATE: The Mora Triflex is a great knife but be careful with the fine point of the tip. It recently chipped off a little bit. Be safe.

  • Good start guys! Same gear I carry on my store as well........good stuff! The Knife is actually a rat tail tang and not full tang tho. Which doesn't matter much to me. Had a Mora SL2 that was also rat tail and I couldn't seem to break it! Thumbs up!

  • @sargefaria Sarge, I was rifling through your videos and I can't find anything on the Trail Boss. Could you tell me the title of the video or just the web address if you have a video on it?

  • Are all moras the same?

  • Hi, I own a Mora 680 Viking Triflex steel and it strikes ferro rod very well (and it`s a cheap 3-4$ ferro rod from China). Maybe you don`t have 90 degree angle spine on your knife. On mora viking a have that ugly unfinished spine which the cheapest mora knifes have and it`s work with firesteels.

    Cheers:)

  • Just Orderd mine last night 1146 pm.

  • My Triflex strikes sparks from any ferrorod, even cheap knock offs.

  • The type of steel is irrelevant for striking a firesteel- the spine just has to be sharp. I have that same knife, you just have to use the spine towards the tip. They purposely made it sharp to strike sparks. Of course, you can also square the rest of the spine on a stone, sandpaper or a belt grinder. I do this with all my Mora knives (so far 20+ and counting) all will create sparks from a fire steel no matter the steel (carbon, SS, Triflex).

I hope this helps. Nice vid!

  • @BRIKbushcraft

    hey buddy,

if you ever get a hand on the Mora Force, get one. the blade doesn´t get so thin towards the tip. The triflex is good but the force is much more durable.

  • It will strike a ferro rod. Just run the spine over a belt sander or bench grinder a few times (remember, keep it cool or you'll fuck up the temper) to square it off, it'll strike sparks just fine.
