Fact is ,save for the 1981 disaster,they (ussr) never clearly demonstrated how ''dominanant'' they were.Each time they were put up against Canadas best teams,they got their ass kicked.And they got rocked by USA in 80!

From Montreal i was 13 years old in jan 76 .
It was a pleasure to see the flyers teachining some north american hockey to ussr .

This gam and montreal one were a pure moment of hockey .

Gordie had 7 points in 8 games, bobby hull had 9 points in 8 games 50 or not he was effective. And in 72 the soviet had the pros hanging till the last seconds of game 8. Even harry sinden admits facing the soviets where no easy task.

Facing the Soviet "was" no easy task because of the Soviets' training and conditioning. Canadian players never trained or prepared the way the Soviets did...They were all coming off summers of drinking beer at the cottage and it showed. In the end, they started getting their legs and the Soviets folded under the pressure of no longer being the underdogs...
