Is the audience dying from whooping cough or what? The coughing is just non-stop. I understand a little cough every now and again, but it just doesn't end! Millo is revelatory though...when she can be heard in between ALL THE COUGHING!

Sounds like she's singing in a 'metro' station. Too much noise.

@metropolitan1966 True...the intonation thing is kind of weird. Maybe some coach was messing with her and this happened. There is another one on Youtube with her singing this aria and the intonation isn't so bad. Also in this one she isn't crescendoing on the first "oh patria mia". So I'm guessing: manipulative (and obviously destructive coach). Because if anything she's solid normaly....

Wow! Some serious intonation problems. She is dreadfully off at the start of the aria proper and falters badly, most notably at 3:49 and never really recovers. This is surprising, considering her usual tonal acuteness. It is simply un- listenable. Her telecast rendition is one of the best!

Fantastic singing, impossible to match today!
Ms. Millo performed "Aida" at the Theatro Municipal do Rio de Janeiro and she deserved the greatest ovation that an audience has seen in Brazil. The critics and the public went simply crazzy with her stunning singing. The newspapers registered that the audience jumped to their feet screaming as if Brazil had won the World Soccer Cup finals, just unbelievable!
