Last Exile (ラストエグザイル, Rasuto Eguzairu?) is a Japanese animated television series created by GONZO to commemorate the studio's tenth anniversary.

The series is directed by Koichi Chigira, with character designs by Range Murata and production design by Mahiro Maeda. All three staff members had worked together on GONZO's Blue Submarine No. 6, the studio's first original video animation.

Last Exile ran on TV Tokyo from April to September, 2003. It was brought in the United States through TechTV's Anime Unleashed in March 2004. It ended in December of the same year, with a full season marathon on Christmas Day. In Canada, it began to air on the digital channel G4TechTV Canada on July 22, 2007, at 8 p.m.

afaik some people have trouble to like the female mainchara, because of her tomboy-thensuddenlyallannoying­-attitude. after all I like the series much, and especially the design is full of love and attention. range murata designed so much , so well, and even drew the keyframes. not many anime get so much attention and care, its a bummer not more got into it .

THIS ANIME IS EPIC!!! IT'S A MASTERPIECE ALL OTHER ANIMES (in my opinion) PALE IN THE SIGHT AND AWESOMENESS OF LAST EXILE!!!!!!! THAT ART IS BEAUTIFUL AND WILL LEAVE YOU BREATHLESS!!!!!!!!! THE CHARACTERS ARE ALL INCREDIBLY WELL PLANED OUT!!!!!!!! AND DIO X LUCCIOLA ARE THE BEST MOST PERFECT COUPLE EVER INVENTED!!!!!! I CRY EVERY TIME I WATCH THIS ANIME!!!!!!!!!!!
