WPFD responds to a structure fire, in the middle of dealing with heavy flooding and water rescues. Two firefighters arrive on scene with no SCBA, apparatus, or any tools. A search and rescue went under way immediately but due to heavy smoke, they had to back out. With no fire engines on scene, they had to put out the fire with a cooler of water and buckets of water from flood waters.

  • I just watched this video. Awesome job by you and your partner. That must had been a hard decision to start opening up the windows, save a life and risk the fire spreading and growing. I would have done the samething. Double edge sword. Was the person inside the structure? The department I was on, we didn't have PPE in our POV's. Maybe a ABC F/E. Maybe start carrying airpacks in your POV's as well. Damn good job and I posted it on my facebook wall for the rest to see.

  • @anmlrsqnj Fortunately the resident was not in the structure at the time of the fire.

  • @Westplainsfd were your hands a little hot when/if you went into the fire with those extrication gloves on I noticed when you went to your truck to get your mask

  • @theatomicfart1001 No, but honestly I had forgotten I had them on, we had been performing water rescues for hours.

  • Dude Congrats for making it on firerescue1!!! Just got their news letter that had the link to this video!

  • @MegaSteven43 My wife showed me this morning. :)

  • I wish I could "Like" this video a million times, it's my new favorite firefighting video of all time. That was badass how you guys started the bucket brigade. Looked like a lot of work but it seemed efficient enough without an engine on scene and without being able to make entry. Amazing video, mad respect. Stay safe!

  • That's one you will be telling the Jr. firefighters about 20 years from now. ;-)

  • Great effort guys... My helmet is off to you!

  • Twice in 5 years my town and the town where Im a firefighter and many counties around us were flooded heavily. Once in 2006 which is the worst flood ever in our area river rose 14 feet over flood stage and then September 2011 river rose 12-13 feet over flood stage. So I know what this is like. Great job brothers.

  • Awesome job! God bless your soul.
