my first bama game, sat in the auburn student section with my bama jersey and thought as i watched warm-ups, "we can win this"

Pat Dye explaining why he didnt kick the field goal smacks of dumbass history...Alabama couldnt run through wet paper this day...he would have won the game...dumbass

His kick did help to beat Auburn, but it was a Kerwin Bell td pass that did it.

@WillHear432 Robert McGinty basically got a nasty reception when he got back to campus and left after the season. In 1986, McGinty, now the kicker at Florida, beat Auburn with a last second kick.

@BAMAGOALPOST I recall that, a 53 yarder that cut the lead to 17-10 after Auburn had been up 17-0. Not sure how much Dye played in McGinty leaving. It may have had something to do with his scholarship.

@WillHear432 I always heard that Dye ran the kicker off and he transferred to Florida and a year or 2 later kicked the field goal that beat Auburn.
