@teflondon91 possibly a big ball of flames, but I don't think you get enough pressure to have a real explosion. People do stupidly burn these inside on their kitchen tables though... It actually works pretty well outside. Of course, I don't recommend anyone do what I did. It is just for demo purposes. I started these as a survival tool, but you can just as easily burn wood. People do use these as an ultra light backpacking stove, and even the REI carries denatured now.

I'm surprised no one has blown themselves up yet making these little penny stoves.

Great video! In my alcohol stoves, I use denatured alcohol. It burns so clean that it's difficult to see the flame in the daytime... so be careful. Denatured alcohol is also great to have around for cleaning things as well as removing sticky label glue, etc.

@ScottsUtubeWorld Thanks for watching, and commenting! Denatured alcohol is also probably much cheaper. When I took them hiking, I liked Everclear because you could drink it if you wanted to, and also clean wounds.

@themarkfellows2 That's one thing that I've wondered about denatured alcohol... if you can clean wounds with it. I'd LOVE to be able to use Everclear, but I've never even seen it, other than in your video. Out here in Commiefornia, it's illegal to have-- as almost everything else is.

@ScottsUtubeWorld As far as the denatured alcohol, I have heard differing things on what they do to "denature" the Ethyl. I was told they put Methyl(wood alcohol) into it. Methyl could possibly be absorbed into your blood stream. I have read that the way Methyl makes you blind is that it gets in your blood stream, which isn't a big deal, but when your body metabolizes it, it breaks it down into an acid that sits on the back of your eye(retina) and makes your macula swell.

@ScottsUtubeWorld You can burn 90% isopropyl, which you can also use to clean wounds, but it burns really dirty. Put's a soot all over everything.

I wondered about using a pressure cooker on these stoves. Thank you for showing your research. In a survival conditions a person could pour in the remaining rich turkey broth into a package of dehydrated instant mashed potatoes (found in most food storage/survival packs), or save it to make soup.

@Nueroactive Thanks for watching, commenting, and the tip. That is a good point. That broth might give instant potatoes a nice flavor.
