I'm not saying that what Japan did was right. But you've got to realize the American and Canadian troops were people who tried to stop Japan, and were thus seen as enemies. They physically proved to be enemies to Japan.
Japanese Canadians didn't try to stop Canada or America. They did not physically prove enemies of North America. They didn't kill Canadian troops. So, they had no right to be imprisoned in the first place. Troops were enemies and of course were imprisoned
Most Japanese know Japanese immigrants in USA were taken to concentration camps during the second world war. American white people discriminated against Japanese immigrants though Japanese immigrants were confident themselves were American.
Now there are many Japanese immigrants in Hawaii, but they discriminate against Japanese because these immigrants believe themselves are American.
Weird and absurd discrimination is pervasive in the world !! (>_<)
@TiberiusFlavian Japanese =/= Japanese Americans. Most Japanese Americans have NOTHING to do with Imperialistic Japanese Empire, in fact Japanese Americans have even helped the US war effort by translating key war documents obtained by the CIA and enlisting in the US army.
This is sad moment in our history no doubt. However, this pales in comparison to the atrocities inflicted on American POW's in WWII. The Japanese-Americans at least didn't get a bullet in their head or be forced to go on death marches. Just saying it's good to keep things in perspective.
