Hi sorry for the late answer. Well i dont have a good answer for that, but with Maya you can do other things that 3Ds Max cant do, and the otherway around...
Maya is a good character modeling and character animation software, and 3ds Max is good too build architecture and stuff like. Maybe i am wrong....
Well that is the best answer i can give you right now.

Two problems have been plauging me for awhile with an animatiom in trying to do
1. MY video post effects will not display at all, they dont show in the preview and the actual render they dont either, its set on the right camera and everything, I just dont know why it wont show.
Other prob is how do i display an AVI file in 3d max? what file size/compression works? is there a file size limit? becausw I've tried alot of things and running out of options

@assenders
HI
Maybe you forgot to change the "object id" ??? Right click on the object or the particles, and press "object propherties" and under G-buffer change object id to = 1
and also in the video post change the "object id" to 1
if that didnt work then here is another thing
In the videopost, before you can see a preview in the videopost, u must press "VP queue" and then press Preview. If that didnt work
the try to watch the tutorial again :)
So tell me if it works

I don't like rendering in video post, why cant I just use the normal render settings so I can have Alpha channels etc? Right now I have to render with video post for the effect than render all over again using the normal rendering method (render settings) to get the alpha renders.

In the videopost menu, there is an Icon, called "execute sequence" that looks like a black man running. Press on it, and in it you can render image and video. hope it helps
