@HumansAreAnimals It seems to me that lumping all missionaries in together as being exactly the same is right on par with lumping all black people or all Jewish people or all males or females into one category. It's stereotyping and prejudiced. You're free to have your own opinion, but just be aware of what you're doing with it. And there were many people who told us that they were thrilled to have us there.

Yes because "lumping all missionaries in together" has had the same violent and disgusting results as "lumping all black people or jewish people... together". That was a trite and honestly insulting analogy, way to devalue the REAL discrimination that REAL oppressed communities go through by "lumping" your own NON-oppressed group in with us.

Missionaries have a legacy of NOTHING BUT EVIL. Now you're just tourists enjoying the poverty and currency inequality of the 3rd world.

I was saying that the act of making generalized statements about a certain group of people based upon a few individual instances is the same whether we're talking about missionaries or blacks or Jews. And you're absolutely right. There has been, and still is massive oppression and prejudice against many groups that missionaries perhaps haven't known.

@HumansAreAnimals But what about the man in Ethiopia who was converted to Christianity and went about to preach it to his fellow countrymen? The authorities arrested him and threatened him to stop preaching. They bashed his baby's skull open on the cement floor and shot his wife's brains out while he watched on because his gospel was too precious to him to quit preaching? He believes he'll see them again in eternity and that their suffering was temporary. So who's nothing but evil in this case?

@HumansAreAnimals hey derp it is already common practice in the middle east for the women to pray to mother marry. has been for a long time they actually have catholic churches. yeah its colonial bull shit but if it makes them happy. when ive spoken with indian women in america they said that the catholic churches that where mainly a womens thing after she came to america she relates it to almost a book club. a place for women to get together and unite. idk. i guess its just lame though.
