The University of New Orleans has installed an Emergency Siren to work concurrently with a text-messaging service to alert all students in case of emergency. Apparently the text-messaging service had very low enrollment so it was decided that a 135 dB noisemaking device would be more effective at alerting people.

Specs:

I am correcting myself by clearly writing down the specs here, during the video I pulled them out of my head:

American Signal Corporation Tempest T-135 Siren running on a CSC-960 II encoder from the same company.

The signal format, Air raid/attack:

740 Hz Tone, ramping up and down, :06 up and :05 down for 3 minutes

  • cool siren...lol

did it go off during gustav

  • nah man, and its NEVER going to go off

  • if you wana see a t-135 siren then type t-135 siren on youtube

  • if you want to confirm it to me, as I asked, I will change it. If you want to be a smart-ass about it, there will be no change.

  • I beg to differ with the no tornado remark. I live up town and lost half of my house feb 13th of last year to an EF-2 tornado.

  • and I am familiar with that, however this area is no tornado alley and that was my point. You got hit by freak weather, would you install a 30 thousand dollar tornado-safe shelter under your house in New Orleans? Please come tell me

  • Nice ASC T-135 .

  • i found a whelen wps 3016 in new orleans

  • Thanks for videoing this siren and for your commentary. Could we actually see the siren?

    I never found it.

They may have tornadoes for which it could be useful.

But I also think it is a waste of money.

  • Can someone tell me where I can download a midi of this I wonna put the siren in a song im making.

  • IT is too a T-35 AC/DC just it looks and sounds like a T-128

  • This version is the T-135 AC-DC

  • This is basically a larger version of the T-128, and a lot louder.
