Hot off the heels of releasing a cinematic trailer for Dota 2, Valve is allowing PC gamers to sign up for a chance to be entered into the game's beta. All fans would need is a Steam account and an active email tied to it.
While the Bellevue, Washington-based developer hasn't revealed how inclusive or when exactly the beta will be, according to Steam, "Valve is targeting this fall for a large scale beta
For those unfamiliar with Dota 2, the real-time strategy game is the sequel to a highly-popular World of Warcraft 3 mod Defense of the Ancients (or "Dota" as it's more commonly known).
Powering Dota 2 is Valve's Source engine, which isn't known for producing action RTSs as much as it is delivering high-quality first-person shooters (Half-Life 2, Portal 2, Team Fortress 2).
Players hoping to get the full build of the game may have to wait as Dota 2 currently does not have a set release date.
