For some reason watching the cleaned up dvd version isn't as good as watching the grittier vhs I had when I was a kid. It's too bright and bouncy. Does anyone else notice that?

What's furry have to do with anything? And since you never explained why this "furry fetish" is pathetic, I'm fully allowed to dismiss it as not pathetic. Which leaves the fact that there are people who consider this low-quality garbage nostalgic as the only pathetic thing in this comment section.

This movie and Tarzan are the best Disney classics ever made....in my humble opinion, of course :)

I notice this mainly with Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, and The Lion King, where I guess Disney thinks that doing restorations of these films means boosting up all the colors. I don't know if it's because of the older picture, but I think the original releases have a darker, more richer color quality that's just nicer to watch in my opinion. At least there's always Laserdiscs or VHS to watch those original prints of the movie.

It's in the menu section or it is on mine. My DVD is from 2003 it has both versions on it. I'm not keen on "Human Again"

I have a DVD that claims to have the original. But when I play it it's just the remastered version without the added scene and song "Human Again". I remember the VHS and how amazing the film looked. On the DVD all the colors have been digitally modified and the whole film looks absolutely horrible. I guess I have to make an expedition to my parents garage and try to find that original VHS. And get a working VHS player somewhere:S

Yes, I know. I was born back there. The trailers were definitely dumb, but they bring back so many memories. Their atmospheres I guess.
