This was the University of Texas at Austin Longhorn Band's competition video for some Indiana Jones contest going on on ESPN. There were a few bands that performed an Indiana Jones-related tune and they were shown on a part of ESPN's website. I forgot I hadn't uploaded this, so I figured now would be a good time. Enjoy!

  • This was also my favorite as well but LSU also sounded great plus I think the props won it for them using the girls and their mascot dressed as Indiana Jones .

  • @sambohorns Agreed. If only we had Mack Brown and Bevo. Or better yet, Mack Brown riding Bevo.

  • I am planning to join this band soon!! =P I just have to get through the marching and playing audition in August. =)

  • @kenny5292 Nice! What instrument do you plan to audition on?

  • WHY ARE WE SO GOOD?!

  • Hahaha, I love that you posted it! I was just thinking about how long it took to film this quick 2 minutes a couple days ago.

    And I like @jennicalynn14's comment :)

  • (\m/) hook em!!

  • Two great things come together longhorns and Indiana jones Hook Em' Horns\,,/

  • Hah, I'm only in high school marching band right now, but I can't wait to go to UT and be in the Longhorn band!!

  • @TravisCyprien Its a bit ignorant to claim that there's a correct way to interpret any song. If everyone played the "correct" version of this song, which I assume you mean the official soundtrack version, then it would sound the same every time, and music should never be kept stagnant, it should always evolve to fit the style of those playing the music and the era they play in. You basically just claimed the directors main criteria was simillarity to the original version, rather than musicality.

  • LSU and UT were my top picks

  • I've heard LSU and now Texas, and I'm no fan of either, but LSU in a knockout! They even blew a little hold that Tiger in there too! But when I heard LSU, I thought John Williams was directing it, and INDY and the big rock was coming out to chase him!

  • @TravisCyprien Hmm, I am not entirely sure that you assumption is correct. I thought that the marching bands in the competition had to do a little bit of their own school's flare on it as all them did...including LSU. The way LSU's band starts the indiana Jones song is was an LSU addition and agian towards the middle of the piece, if you listen closely, they play a bit of their fight song.

  • The reason LSU sounded so good was because they were in their indoor field. It covered up most of the mistakes

  • Sorry to say this but the reason why LSU won was that they had played the song the correct way, no additions to the music such as on Texas when they had played at the end the added on a part that was not in music to begin with. It's the same with FSU, Auburn, etc. Even though they played the music with the pitch or dynamics the correct way. This is not what The directors were looking for.
