This is the season when, long ago, the Wise Men followed a star to Bethlehem to pay homage to a child. The Wise Men, in awestruck wonder, fell to their knees upon seeing Jesus for the first time, worshiping him and presenting his mother, Mary, with gold, frankincense and myrrh. Gifts for a family of humble means — gifts fit for a king!
Just like the Wise Men in the story of Christ's birth, you, too, have been a Godsend to the children and families in Holt's care. You have come, bringing your gifts of warmth, nutrition and shelter — livestock, medicine and education. You have helped mothers — struggling mothers like Mary — care for their helpless children.
Your gifts — modern-day gold, frankincense and myrrh — have offered children and families the chance at a future filled with hope and prosperity.
Who knows? Maybe, one day, the once vulnerable and helpless children you have helped, will go on to change the world.
Similar to another child....not so long ago.
