Damrau is a perfect Sophie, who'd say that? I mean, I really thought "Oh no, I guess Damrau's voice isn't ideal for Sophie, because it requires such a light and pure voice'', but I was totally wrong. Damrau shapes her voice into a more lyrical and youthful sound and polished her top to sound less heavy than it normally sounds, and the result, combined to her perfect musicianship and feeling for the text and the music, is spellbinding. I liked Koch a lot, but Damrau here won all my attention.
