At some point there could be law suits from these children that become adults. As children they are not able to judge the cost. Cost benefit analysis shouldn't be used on people period especially when they have not given permission to you as a doctor to experiment with their lives. Drugging people to make them conform to what society thinks is normal is morally wrong. That is why everyone has a bad feeling about this.

There`s some truth in that. It`s hard to control an ADD child b/c an ADD kid doesn`t respond to discipline and parental control like the average child, but I wouldn`t say it is an excuse for just lazy parenting. Some kids are just more difficult than others, but I don`t think shoving medicine down a young child`s throat is the answer. Sometimes parents just have to learn patience & acceptance w/these kids b/c these kids need their parents` support more than ever b/c society looks dwn on them.

I've heard, from my Mom(though I'm still not sure)that ADD is just an excuse for kids whose parents can't control them.

bottom line--people medicate there children too much! some are medicated for ADD as young as 6 YEARS OLD. EVERY SIX YEAR OLD IS GOING TO ACT A LITTLE IMMATURE. besides ADD means that you cant concentrate IN SCHOOL--who CAN concentrate in school...NO ONE. does this mean that we all have ADD? We should just let kids be themselves instead of take there personalities away and turn them into lawful americans.
