A short tutorial to write Hexxeh's fantastic ChromeOS (Flow build) from your mac to your 2gig or greater USB stick. Please have annotations ON.

//NOTE: Hexxeh now has an automatic builder application for the mac! Modern builds (Vanilla or Lime) should be written using that method. Don't worry, it's idiot proof. Check it out at http://chromeos.hexxeh.net/

  • @wardo1254 Nope. I set my MacBook resolution down in hopes that it would be easier to see in a youtube video.

  • Should i mount the usb back after terminal is done ?

  • Unless you want to start some crazy VM from the USB drive, no reason why you would. Mac OS can't read the new file format. Mac computers hardly even can boot off of them (see description for links to one method). You're best bet is to try this USB out on a PC.

  • if i want to copy all the files from a cd and i want to put this in a usb, how i can do this in terminal?

  • this is not obsolete.

  • I get a black screen. i boot from PloP

  • Thanks, This isnt working because i dont have a proper USb, ahah

  • Could I just do this on another partition of my hard drive, or is this not possible? I'd like to be able to run it off my SSD which i boot mac from.

  • Never done anything like this before, absolutely superb guide. Wasn't quite as straightforward as the instructions because I have a different tar.gz file, but simple enough to figure out why it was going wrong (just copied and pasted the EXACT filename into terminal where relevant). THANK YOU. Superb stuff.
