Michael Gove, Secretary of State for Education sets out his plans to tackle underperforming schools at a visit to Knights Temple Grove Academy in Bromley. Andrew Day, Principal of Haberdashers' Aske's Knights Academy also talk about the benefits of being an academy.

The school, formerly known as Merlin Primary School, is situated within the Downham Estate and in a deprived part of the community.

  • The start of the end of our state primary education system. Very, very, sad. Heads will have control and 'latitude' - and be accountable to whom, I'd like to know. Each year will bring a different set of parents, so the only continuity will be provided by the'sponsors' - what do THEY know about education and, as they are not direct beneficiaries of the school's services, their reasons for getting involved are Highly suspect
