@forestkaat Michael said himself in his autobiography that Stephanie Mills was a great Dorothy. He said every single one of her performances is believable. Diana Ross was a good Dorothy too, but like you said, she was probably miscast. They probably gave her the part because this was a Motown movie and Diana Ross was part of the label.

@Moonwalker4Evr It was great. Too bad it came out at the wrong time. Sorry, I love Diana Ross, but felt she was miscast - should have been Stephanie Mills or an unknown.

I love both the Wiz and the Wizard of Oz. I don't look at them as the black and the white versions. One is the old and one is the new. Each has earned the accolades they received. They're both great.
