I saw him live in panto in Leeds, circa 1947/8/9. I knew his daughter Norma who came to the same jazzclub in Leeds, the Studio 20 on Upper Briggate. She was very glamorous!

I think that Norman Evans sketches would have inspired Les as most performances are now. Remember Norman Evans is from a different era and Les has updated it to a more recent time. Either way both have contributed to the comedy genre. And equally funny. So enjoy them!

what would the young people of today think of this , i think , bloody brilliant

waldenhouse -- I totally agree with you :- It would seem Les Dawson based his whole "Mother in Law" routines on this Norman Evans character

much funnier than the likes of mrs. brown's boys.... and of course the original.
I can't hear Norman... am I the only one?

@caballistical The audio is playing OK for me. Check the video volume control in case you've got the mute on (under the video screen on the left-hand side). I've done that accidentally a few times myself! I hope you can get the problem sorted so you can hear this classic sketch - it's a gem! ;-)
