Mexicans are Mexicans. They are not indigenous, mestizo or from spain, they are Mexicans. Just as African Americans are African Americans. They are not mulattos. Sure they can be mixed but saying that a person is not pure in blood and using derogative terms does not help. I think most African Americans would not like to be called mulattos. I think learning what you are made up of and learning of what others are made up would decrease racism and promote diversity. Stop with extreme classification
@CSATexan Yeah true, but I think the country of Mexico had that type of government before Spain did. I think Spain eventually did adopt a government similar to other modern countries, decades later. Many countries (especially the ones that were ex-colonies like Mexico) modeled their government after the US, or were greatly influenced. On the more local level, Mexican government organization are probably similar to that of Spain with the towns/cities and mayors.
@CSATexan I20th and 21st century Mexico does have a constitution, a president instead of a queen or king, a federal government, 3 branches of government, the state having power over the church, democracy...Mexico seems more like the US, if it wasn't so corrupt, than that of the Spanish Empire. They got rid of slavery, the caste system, and many of the Spanish rules.
@CSATexan Didn't the Mexicans copied the US's system of law, gov, and even public education. They looked up to the US, they even called their country the United Mexican States. Spain was ran by a monarch and the catholic church.
@209northsidexiv Nahautl is divided up into 12 dialects, so even a Nahautl speaker would have difficultly understanding someone from another dialect region. It goes to show how Native American peoples are really nations within nations.
They belong two separate linguistic families. Nahautl is an Uto-Aztecan language, and Ixcateco is an Oto-manguean language. So it is as different as English being of the Indo-European family of languages, and Chinese being of the Sino-Tibetan family of languages. So somebody speaking Nahautl would not understand a word of somebody speaking Ixcateco.

No, the Mexican independence was lead by a priest, and not long after that they were in turn taken over by a dictator, who was later over turned.
The system of laws in Mexico were influenced by Spain not the US.

@oaxakordeon84 Curious, how is the "x" in the word Mixteco or Mixtec pronounced? Does the "x" have a "h" or "sh" sound? Thanks.
