http://chris.pirillo.com/ - I recently visited Apple's Headquarters in Cupertino, CA. I took my Creative Vado HD with me and shot this clip.

Unfortunately, I didn't have any kind of stabilization mechanism, so it came out quite shaky. It made for a perfect sample to test against iMovie '09's new stabilization feature. I was quite impressed with the results.

If you don't believe there's much of a difference, keep an eye on the tip of the green 1 throughout the duration of each version. The panning is much more smooth after the effect is applied.

I uploaded this video directly through iMovie '09 and am not too pleased with how it looks here on YouTube. I decided to export the video with default Apple TV settings and upload the same test - since iMovie '09 does not support YouTube HD export options.

  • u dnt wanna smell my magic wen i get out of the bathroom

    lolz

  • y is it all wavey?

  • WTF????

  • i smelled the magic from my home... isnt THAT awesome??

  • @IvanDos24 Because the decision how to stabilize and in what direction is not as easy as it sounds for a computer. For us humans it's very easy because we see it directly... for a computer not so easy

  • I couldn't really see a difference, and just tested a video from an iPhone 4 without and WITH stabilization.

Same thing..... marketing hype. Sad, the y need to do something with the iPhone 4 hardware

  • does take ages to stabilise vid but worth it.

  • Its good but why does it take so long to do it for a 3 min video to stabilize, it takes more than 40min. Its crazy I mean like why?

  • It's like it stabilises the middle of the video but the outside is quite shaky. Oh well, still good!

  • the gurl on the right is hawt!
