Also, Grassroots Motorsports Magazine just awarded the Mazda Miata first place in the top 25 best cars in grassroots racing history. No Jetta, No Cobalt SS, sorry. But the RX-7 was in the top 5 I think. They're light, fast, balanced, agile, reliable, and cheap to work on. But I wouldn't expect a boy racer like you to understand anything about real racing.

Derek answered you mostly, but let me help you understand, the Miata is supposed to be small and light for balanced handling and decent speed with a small engine. They're track cars. Ever heard of Spec Miata? Don't worry about the '09's, worry about the old ones with big turbos. Good luck beating one of those in your heavy ass Jetta. BTW, Jettas are girls cars more than a Miata.
