I think Richardson did well. there is a version that Olivier did with a British cast , but I liked this one better, and I liked Richardson better.

@Pedropaulocastilho Yes, it does look like he smiles, but then it goes away.

Masterpiece of a stage adaptation. Thanks for this. M

Stockwell laughs in 1:22, after say "stop talking"?

This is the greatest film adaptation of a play I've ever seen. It's also the best slow-burn dysfunctional family drama I've ever seen.
Thanks to the criminally neglected Sidney Lumet and the sublime cast, this is pure Romanticism at its finest.

i don't think edmund is cast very well, especially compared to the others--he doesn't have the same emotional believability. also he looks too healthy.... the others are so good though, i love this play so much

Incredible O'Neill-play, had the great joy of seeing an intense fantastic stage version of this last week, starring Liv Ullmann as Mary!
I love Ms Katherine in all things but rarely am i moved by her. This is deeply moving. What genius. Thanks.

Wow, check out Kate's power at 1:17 "I hate doctors!" What a fierce performance. Favorite actress of all time. Thanks for posting.
