@FREEDOM3517 It's not really that early taking his early days in Jamaica into account - post Wailing Wailers and African Herbsman but before the days in which he had hits outside of the UK - Exodus, Survival etc. He was 27 or 28 at the time of recording this

As The Wailers would say.."The music hits you and you feel no pain." Also, about the "western" touches, these were added intentionally by studio musicians because the music execs in England wanted to make the album as accessible as possible. The story of this album is actually really interesting of culture clash. The studio guitarist he said "I couldnt find the 1 for nothing. Then the engineer said no, just listen to the music and feel it. THen I got it."
