Donato, theatrical actor and director, is going to have a big challenge. He is sure he will lose (even his mother is sure about that)but he desperately longs to attract people's attention to what, he thinks, is very important for human soul. That evening Donato, together with Emanuele and Valerio, is preparing the famous tradegy about Saint Biagio, the Saint Patron of Corsano (Lecce). It was a celebration for all people. The play was so loved that people used to come, even from the close towns, to watch it. It was the only entertainment at the time. But during the 60's something changed.
People didn't come to watch this event anymore and they didn't take part to any other shows held in open squares. They preferred and still prefer staying at home and watching TV, considered more attractive than the plays. The TV is the new cold window on the world and so Donato, who represents the "warm" culture" , can't cope with it. He tries to enter it but he doesn't successed. He is sad and angry. "Amen" is, in fact, not only Donato's last show but also the last show of the culture in general.
