Barclays analysts believe that Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) will launch a CDMA iPhone with Verizon in the first quarter of 2011, which they view as a positive for Apple, Verizon (NYSE:VZ) and Qualcomm (NASDAQ:QCOM).
The launch is expected to put pressure on AT&T (NYSE:T), Research in Motion (NASDAQ:RIMM), Motorola (NYSE:MOT) and Infineon.
Analysts Jeff Kvaal, Ben Reitzes, James Ratcliffe, Tim Luke and Andrew Gardiner said, "Our component and distribution checks indicate that Apple is likely to begin production of a CDMA iPhone, possibly with LTE support, in 4Q 2010 for launch at Verizon in January 2011 - perhaps at CES. We believe Apple's US unit volume is likely to grow from 10M units in 2010 to at least 15M in 2011 as a result - 9M at Verizon and 6M at AT&T. We also believe Apple may launch the device in other CDMA markets, in particular China with China Telecom."
