Jamaicans have been rapping/chatting over instrumental beats since the 60s. U-Roy, King Stitt, Count Machuki and other cats like that started atleast a decade before some of the first hip-hop sounds. And a Jamaican dude named Bullwackies Barnes who moved to the Bronx recorded one of the first "hip-hop" songs in the 70s.

  • True. The vid is early 80's but the sound system been popular in Jamaica since the 50's.
