Gerry Adams ordered the murder

Book claims Adams 'ordered' McConville murder Sinn Fein has dismissed fresh allegations in a new book that Gerry Adams ordered the murder and secret burial of mother of 10 Jean McConville in 1972. The latest claims were made by a senior republican Brendan "Darkie" Hughes in interviews with US academics carried out before he died in 2008. 37-year-old McConville was abducted and shot dead by the IRA for being an alleged informer. In the book, former IRA commander Brendan Hughes claims the West Belfast MP was linked to some of the worst atrocities of the troubles including the brutal killing of the widowed west Belfast woman.
