This is a the Canadian version of a song we use in class to help children learn their ABCs. It includes the hand shapes for the American Sign Language alphabet. We wanted to have a song then went slow enough for the kids to be able to sing and sign and ultimately learn their letters.
**see my profile for the American version.

  • Left or Right hand??

  • @Msawesomehannah It doesn't matter, you should use your left hand if you are left handed and right if you are right handed.

  • Zed?

  • @MrJaymation that is how people say the letter Z in Canada, England, Australia and many other English countries. That's why I made two versions, on that sings Zee (the US version) and one that sings Zed (the Canadian, UK, Australian etc version)

  • The letter Z is always pronounced as "Zed" in English speaking countries such as the UK, Canada, Ireland, Australia and New Zealand.

English originates from England where the letter Z is officially pronounced as "Zed".

So it is not that Canada is trying to be unique. It is the correct way to pronounced it in English.

    BTW, I'm not Canadian.

  • i never knew canadians said zed instead of z!!!!

ohmygoodness! and now i know. :) thanks!

  • @Ninjaluvr12 So do people in all other English-speaking countries such as England, Australia, Scotland, Wales, Ireland, New Zealand, etc. :)

  • @trewlove77, the picture shows a net you dipstick

  • @cutthroooat good question! I don't know of a map or anything like that. I would love to know though :)

  • @dwighthm yes but there are some regional differences of signs.

  • @trewlove77 I'm sorry to hear you were confused. There is a picture of a 'NET' to accompany the song.

  • Um, was I the only one that noticed that she said "N" is for GNAT?! I would think someone teaching young, hearing impaired children would try harder not to confuse them....
