Okami [Pt. 84]

Ammy warps to Ryoshima Coast, equips the Fire Tablet, and talks to Super-fast Hayate. Hayate and Ammy race, and Ammy wins~ Ammy then goes to Queen Himiko's Palace, and explores around a bit before going inside. She gets greeted by the Handmaiden, and then goes up an elevator. At the top, Ammy has to go across boiling lava. But it doesn't kill her instantly, 'cause of the Fire Tablet that she equipped.

AMATERATSU IS A BOY?

Amaterasu was originally intended to be a genderless character in the game. However there are many cases suggesting that Ammy is a girl, such as:

-All of the brush gods call Ammy "Mother"

-Amaterasu is female in Shinto mythology

-Yatsu, the man in the Gale Shrine, calls Ammy a maiden/female

And there are also cases where Ammy is suggested to be male, such as:

-Apparently the Wii manual classifies Ammy as a male.

-Golden Fury technique

-Tobi's remarks ("Good Sir")

@Aurellene At one point when you first talk to the priestess with the nice tits (I forget her name) she makes a remark about some flaw Ammy has and then Issun says "Ammy is sensative about her flaws."

At another point Issun was also hysterically laughing when Yatsu said he saw Ammy as a maiden. Kinda contradictory.. Also the localizing team was under pressure to keep Amaterasu genderless, as Hideki Kamiya (story, director) was trying to make a point that this might not be the "real" Amaterasu (the game does not follow Shinto mythology perfectly, only referenced).

If you've completed Kaguya's quest and visibly saw that you received it, and its not under your "Equipment" tab--even if you scroll down (I think you can scroll down?)--then it is a glitch.

I have this game for wii and it says nothing about okami being male

for all of those who are confused about Amaterasu's gender, she is a female because issun refers to ammy as "her" when talking to Rao at one point in the game. also, the other gods call Ammy "mother Amaterasu" and it says in wikipedia that Amaterasu is a female.

@Aurellene Well, the Golden Fury Technique does make some sense, but White alpha wolves urinate the same way as males, and a white alpha wolf is what amaterasu seems to be.
