Obama breaks War Powers Act

Now that it's been 60 days since the US entered Libya, the War Powers Act mandates that President Obama officially declares war. For a president that campaigned on upholding the Constitution, why does no one seem to care that the President isn't only breaking his own promise, but breaking the law? Ivan Eland of the Independent Institute says Obama isn't the first president to break the law, but as the States continues to invest in unlawful wars, the age of the American Empire might come to a close as the financial well runs drier by the day.

@JWumboTravel um no. The US has only been in 5 wars since its formation. and according to the constitution, congress is given the power to declare war, but the president has the power to command all of the armed forces, even without an official war.

@JWumboTravel you need to do more studying if that is what you think, by law the president cannot go to war without permission of the congress, he only has supreme authority over the troupes in a war after the congress makes a declaration of war in other words gives him permission, the USA is a republic not a dictatorship, only dictators have the power that you speak of

in reality the president can do whatever he wants in Libya. The guy in the video is a dumb fuck, saying that what the pres is doing is, "unconstitutional." The 'war powers act' is the thing that is unconstitutional, the president has supreme authority over our troops weather you like it or not.

The Republicans and the Democrats are, in fact, one party. It will be quite difficult for the Republicans to distance themselves from the president's failed foreign policies, when they supported him the entire time. Various leaders of the Republican party have supported Obama's unconstitutional war on Libya, the Patriot Act, and the TSA. I've always had a sneaking suspicion that there is a superior power controlling American policy-making, one that transcends petty party affiliation.
