Plot Summary: Based on the acclaimed novel by Susan Cooper, "The Seeker: The Dark Is Rising" is the first film adaptation of the author's acclaimed "The Dark Is Rising" Sequence. The film tells the story of Will Stanton, a young man who learns he is the last of a group of warriors who have dedicated their lives to fighting the forces of the Dark. Traveling back and forth through time, Will hunts for a series of mysterious clues and encounters forces of unimaginable evil. Having read the book this movie is based on, I can safely say that this is one of the worst mutilations of an adaptation in recent memory. The book felt chilling and mystical, as if you were stepping into a frozen dream in ancient Britain. This just felt like a cheap summer blockbuster released in autumn. :P It was not only a bad adaptation, but also cliche and dimwitted, like Spiderman meets Harry Potter. It has none of the book's intelligence or suspense, or even it's beautiful imagery.

This is one of the greatest books ever yet somehow they created the worst movie ever. It's like comparing Harry Potter with the Epic Movie series.
