This is Reeves and Mortimer's long forgotten surreal situation comedy Catterick. On its original broadcast in 2004 on BBC Three, it failed to get strong ratings and was discarded by the BBC until a DVD release a year later. Matt Lucas (Little Britain) and Reece Shearsmith (The League Of Gentlemen) also join the cast.

The show itself follows Carl who comes to the Yorkshire town of Catterick to see his brother Chris. On their arrival at the town, they end up getting chased by a murderer who is after some money.

*NOTE* You may notice that a 1 minute chunk has been taken out. This is because I received a message from the people behind the artist Joni Mitchell saying that the usage of her song (The Sire Of Sorrow) was not allowed. Therefore, I had to cut it out. The chunk wasn't really important, just Tess sitting in her bedroom miming along to the song. So, if you wanted to see that for whatever reason, please send any form of hate mail to Joni Mitchell. Thank you.

  • @Rentaghost76 oh they do for sure! noel lists vic and bob as some of his heaviest influences

  • @stoatsman

The funny thing is, that The Weekenders was a pilot for Channel 4 that was intended to be a long running show. But Channel 4 decided to pass on it, so Vic & Bob signed with the BBC instead and then did 'The Smell Of...'

I bet that Channel 4 soon regretted their decision, especially after watching Catterick!

PS: Weekenders is fucking class. ;)

  • Will Reece Shearsmith come to my room too? :) Great british comedy!!

  • the raving bit made me laugh so hard i had to drink fifteen lagers

  • I have to say, when I first saw this and it got to the last scene with them raving in the car, just parked on a junction like that I nearly died laughing. Probably in my top 10 lol moments. They did another thing everyone missed and forgot about called the Weekenders. Still got it on a vhs tape somewhere I think.

  • Rave music is Higher State of Consciousness by Josh Wink.

It took me 3 years to find but I got there in the end!

  • Does the pad at 0:11 say Nowt or Newt? I presume Nowt, but you never know with Vic 'n' Bob.

  • class

  • I hope all the Boosh crowd pay PROPER RESPECT to the way Vic and Bob changed British comedy from 1990 onwards!

  • Damn, it was Joni clip I was looking for! I wanted to link it for a friend at facebook. No harm done, as I have the DVD of this rather marvellous comedy.
