Wow, I thought I was screwed till I found this video. I am running ESX 4, I shutdown my VM to create a snapshot and for some reason my vmdk files went missing. This video saved me a HUGE amount of time restoring!! Thanks so much man, you saved me a ton of time and headaches!! Where do I send the beer?

I used putty and had to login as root.
This tutorial along with the VMWare KB article SAVED MY LIFE... ok well my job at least.

Yes, use terminal and log into service console using SSH, this is obviously not covered by this video
