As She Sleeps

As she sleeps
she keeps a note outside the door, 'Go Away'
the pond's so deep
that she can drown in memory

As she sleeps
protected by the movement of her rapid eyes
the water's seeping through the
mattress all the time

She keeps a chemistry set
underneath the bed
to fill up all the empty
spaces in her head
well, don't you know that's like a toaster in the bath
she might fly away
