The UN Decolonization Committee today adopted a consensus resolution reiterating that the way to end the “special and particular” colonial situation in Malvinas is through peaceful, negotiated settlement of the sovereignty dispute between Argentina and the UK. By the terms of the text, introduced by Chile’s representative, the Committee regretted that, despite widespread international support for negotiations, longstanding General Assembly resolutions on that question hadn't been implemented.
