I ended up with actually 2 minor bridges on that one. Those happen on certain boards at a pretty consistent locations which means I'll have to trim a bit the position of a couple of parts in the future revision of the PCB.
Solder paste is now working like a charm and the oven is 100% win.

  • CONGRATULATIONS Erv! That is really good news... and I'm super happy that you've found a way to set up tools + processes + procedures that help make it at least a LITTLE bit easier to make CF boards...

...This should give you the ability to spend more time with family, right?! :D

  • @greytale : indeed. Answering to nicholasBrothers above made me do the math for the first time, I gain at least a factor x4. I still have to finalize the board after the "baking" process but still, it's a huge time saver. More time for the family, more time for the house :-)

  • looks like you got manufacturing down to a science! :D maybe able to mass produce these things for easier to get?

maybe even cheaper. we all know (60/7)*120eruo is a WHOLE Lotta cash per hour! ~$1,357 USD an hour! O.O; wish i had a job that good paying! keep up the good work!

  • @danz409 : I'm for the manufacturing means back to the People. I'll probably build a reprap next year.

  • WOW Erv!

Do you know roughly the time it took to hand solder the v5?

  • @TheNicholasBrothers : I never really measured that, since I was making big batches, spead over several weeks. With the pre-tinning and all, I would say about half an hour to 45 minutes. I wish I had started that production method earlier but good things take good time (are are worth their weight of gold)

  • Oh the relief. Kinda like when I graduated from manual machining to CNC. Makes the job much easier. Still trying to work in that gift for you but my production has to fit in between all my other production. Happy hollidays by the way.

  • that is the most awesome thing i've seen since i first saw Star Wars. i have hope that i might actually be able to capture one before i grow old and die now. ^_^

  • Awesome ! I can almost imagine a CF pcb in one of my sabers next year. : )

Keep up the good work Erv !

  • Oh dear!

Voilà qui va te rendre la vie plus facile, pour sûr! xD

  • man that smells good.
