I remember quaffing ale at the Bronx and Edmonton. I didn't know who these guys were. Then the music came on. I put my beer down and turned around. Ja, it was a good experience. It moved me and all my friends. I lament losing the cassette my friend Leigh gave me.
I'm not sure what happened to the rest of the band, but I know that Rich is now living in London, England, is happily married and they are now expecting thier second child together. He's my uncle, that's how I know all that stuff. lol
I saw these guys in Regina in the early 90's. Man, that was an incredibly show... I had this cassette of demos they made that was IS still freakin' arsesome. I would have like to have seen these guys make it big.... they truly moved me.
Loved RAF back in the 90's... it was certainly Calgary's loss when you guys left for Toronto... I do like the new Infighter incarnation.. still I think it needs Rich but it is getting back to the roots with Gail...
The Republic shows were some of the best live music shows I've seen... big name or otherwise...
Every time I play the old CD's (and cassettes) I remember the shows at the Black Lounge, the Replublic.. and.. well hanging out at the Mercury after the shows ;)
Saw them at the Ship and Anchor one Saturday afternoon at their open mic event every Saturday. Great sounds great times, awesome memories

I remember helping do a 30 minute video-biography for them in 1992/1993 while at SAIT CTSR
Video Production programme...David Macleod was producer,
Dean Soltys was Editor and I was the student sound recordist
and graphics creation...
man were they EVER GREAT...All they needed
was GOOD MARKETING in the USA and they could have been the next Nirvana with what I call "Soulful Grunge" --- Damn I miss music like this!!!!
