There are fears that Russia is still an aggressive state. Its image abroad is that Russia is the country with big geopolitical ambitions, a potential invader that wants to rule the world. But how many countries has it invaded in the last 20 years? Mark Ames is looking for answers to this and many other geopolitical questions in the new installment of the Cracking the Myths series.

  • This "fear" of Russia is just that, an unintelligible emotive response - largely to homemade antiRussian propaganda which drums up hysteria.

    At the same time, there is a perception of Russia as a very incompetent and poor country, which contradicts the fearmongering propaganda.

    The fact is, however, the alcholic stupor and buffoonish antics of Boris Yeltsin did not serve to make people relax over Russia, but only to feed American arrogance and imperialism.

  • jajajaja americans are the most ridiculous people in thee world.

  • And that revolt you're talking about is also gonna be what ends up fucking the russian people again. Putins gone back to communist rule again and then it'll end upside down again in another generation or two.

  • LOL, fuckin eh right Doc! Russia will probably have to deal with China sooner or later. their bordering region will eventually become a lot more valuable for resources and transit. Russia ain't got the money or people to do anything to anybody! Losers......

  • Russia's geographical adversities and lack of viable infrastructure for movement of resources and military operations combined with a shrinking population seem to paint a pretty bleak future for any real hope for a return to the World stage as a major or credible player. Game over:

    America=1,

    Russia=0

  • Free oil??? Where the hell is mine? I don't know anybody here getting any free oil! Russia's getting quite fat and happy at the moment, i don't think you're going to find any sympathy from too many folks on that Hoss! We left Germany after WWI because we weren't there to conquer anybody. That's Russian thinking.

  • You're evidently upset that we've been fuckin 'em out of their expantionist agenda which includes global domination and a revert back to the failed Communist state that it once was. Fact is, you can't expect to dominate your own people like Soviet Russia did and expect to get away with it without revolt. Russia has always done this through history: cycles of revolt, short period of peace, gradual tyrany, back to revolt.

  • The fact of the matter is: America will continue to hold the majority of the geopolitical influence, globally. The main reason being that we're a representative of liberty and freedom of choice and people, by nature, want that. Of course that comes at a very high price, and there are always many arguments to be made against our philosophies and policies but in the end, everyone still wants to be here, you can't deny that. Moreover, our economy sets the standard for global economy, it's a fact

  • USSR WILL BE BACK.
