Douaumont Fort

Fort Douaumont had the reputation of being the strongest fort in Europe and virtually impregnable. It was captured on February 25th 1916 by German forces in the Verdun offensive and recaptured on 24 October 1916 by Moroccan French Colonial troops after the Germans withdrew.

This fort is haunted by the 20 french huntsmen that died when a shell penetrated the bunker, i have been there it is a very depressing, creepy place

But its true, if the Germans had won, the world would be a very different place in which would leave history rewritten and voices of truth silenced.
If I understand what 36special is saying, we would most likely have a very different view today.
