War Horse begins with the remarkable friendship between a horse named Joey and a young man called Albert, who tames and trains him. Incredible motion picture. I grew up with horses and I am so glad that Joey was not portrayed as some sort of "Lassie on the hoof." Horses by nature are innocent, sometimes spirited and unpredictable, and dumb as a fencepost. Joey was all of that.

I was pleased that World War I (called the "Great War" before World War II) was portrayed as the epic struggle that it truly was with armies numbering in the millions and the unusual mix of 19th century horsepower and 20th century technology.

o this films just brilliant..! my friend cried from 45mins in until the end seeing this last week?! Id never seen a trailer so was realy enjoying workin out the whole story as it went along...MADE ME ADORE HORSES SO MUCH
