OMRA Chase Boat Race Torquay II
The Blagspeed Makara [Apache] r/c race boat with Zenoah 26cc engine running the OMRA Chase Boat Course at Torquay in September 2008. Mixed conditions over the course and one stoppage for a broken throttle linkage mounting. 5th place [OMRA] overall and 6 championship points and loads of fun! Thanks. Contrary to the hull manufacturers recommendations, I run this with my fuel tanks in front of the engine and with the engine at 30% of length. Having seen so many gasboats go nose up at the first sign of any chop, I find this method makes the boat fly more flat. It pays to over-fuel too so you don't notice the drop off in weight so much as it gets used. Trim Tabs help too!
